Over the last 15 years, a simple idea has transformed into a massive movement.

From local communities to global clients, the Adecco Group has sent countless messages of support to our deployed service members. Now a signature program for both the Adecco Group US Foundation and the Adecco Group Military Alliance Program, this effort demonstrates the expansive reach and collective impact we can make together.

The program’s roots trace back to 2011, when the Adecco Group Military Alliance program encouraged offices to dig deeper and partner with local bases as a way of recruiting military spouses and veterans. These interactions on base inspired one branch manager to get creative. “We started out attending job fairs and resume writing workshops,” recalled Janet Christensen. “After a little over a year working with them, it just felt like the right thing to do to take our support to the next level. So, we started a program to send Valentine’s cards to our deployed troops.”

Her team, including many military spouses, felt a profound emotional connection to the mission. Janet shared that while the project only required the time to engage the community, the resulting impact has been “far too numerous to count.”

Janet’s time with the company may have ended, but her initiative continues to thrive. Much like an acorn growing into a sturdy oak, the program has expanded over the past 15 years into something far grander than she ever imagined.

In 2025 alone, our clients, colleagues and communities sent over 12,000 cards to deployed service members. While the numbers are impressive, the true meaning of the program is best told through the eyes of the people we serve.
